Program Internship

Salzburg Global Seminar seeks self-motivated and pro-active interns to assist with program research, administration and delivery, and writing/editing at its headquarters at Schloss Leopoldskron, Salzburg, Austria.


Through our programs, Salzburg Global Seminar aims to shape a better world by bridging divides, expanding collaboration and transforming systems. As an integral part of the program team, interns are critical to ensuring program success and helping the organization achieve these goals. 

Program Interns play an active role in the program team and are responsible for supporting the preparation, administration, and implementation of Salzburg Global Seminar programs. 

As part of the internship you will have unique opportunities to build relationships with thought-leaders and change-makers from around the world. Interns must be comfortable meeting and interacting with program participants, and able and willing to be a critical part of day-to-day administrative and operational tasks. Strong skills and experience with computers and IT is essential.

Typical responsibilities include: 

  • Researching potential program topics, partners and participants, including compiling biographies;
  • Assisting in preparing program directory, compiling welcome packets and other program-related materials prior to each program;
  • Ensuring the smooth running of programs by providing event management and technical support (recording lectures, controlling the sound system, passing around microphones, showing visuals on presentation screen, etc.);
  • Supporting program team and participants throughout the program and providing operational support;
  • Providing administrative support such as printing, copying, and mailing;
  • Assisting the Fellowship office with off-site alumni events and network administration.


  • Enthusiasm for the mission of Salzburg Global Seminar;
  • Recently completed or in the process of pursuing a Bachelor’s degree with a demonstrable interest in one of Salzburg Global’s program areas. Where possible, interns will be assigned projects directly connected to their specific skills and interests;  
  • A can-do attitude, ability to multi-task, and a willingness to work flexible hours, according to program needs;
  • Excellent writing and communication skills in English, including the ability to edit text; 
  • Comfortable working with people from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds;
  • Proficiency in internet research and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

German language skills are not required.


The internship is full-time for three months. The position is unpaid, but the successful candidate will be provided with free on-site accommodation at Schloss Leopoldskron, all meals and a return ticket for their country of origin, as well as excellent networking opportunities with the international participants of our programs.
