Narrative strategies, whether through language, audio, visuals, or performance, can transform societal perspectives, engage communities, and foster empathy. Artists play an important role by offering nuanced perspectives and revealing the intricate realities of our lives and the pressing issues that impact us all.

From April 6 to 11, 2025, more than 40 Fellows from around the globe gathered for the Salzburg Global session on Creating Futures: Art of Narrative." This session brought together artists, researchers, and activists developing counter-narratives that humanize overlooked voices, encourage understanding, and provide an essential platform for freedom of expression and inclusive democracy. Together, they delved into artistic and narrative strategies that elevate diverse perspectives, using creative expression to bridge divides, foster trust, reshape public awareness and discourse, and uphold pluralistic, inclusive, and equitable social, cultural, and democratic values.

The resulting digital publication showcases a variety of resources from the session. Featured articles delve into the power of art to reclaim spaces and confront injustice, the importance of truthful storytelling in a time of rising misinformation, uplifting artists' voices with the advancement of AI, and more. Among these pieces, the publication also features opinion articles authored by various Fellows.

Working groups of Fellows produced the following outputs from the session, which are detailed in the publication:
