Our Work to Change the Conversation Begins with the Meierhof

The Meierhof Campaign for Renewal

The Meierhof Campaign is a targeted fundraising initiative launched in June 2025 to secure the philanthropic support needed to revitalize the Meierhof and safeguard its place at the heart of Salzburg Global’s future. Through the generosity of our community, the campaign reached and exceeded its fundraising goal of $6 million in May 2026.

The Meierhof stands at the center of Salzburg Global’s daily life — a hub for our Fellows, a home for our guests, and the creative engine behind our boldest ideas. These renovations are an investment in Salzburg Global’s future through a transformative renovation that will ensure the Meierhof reflects our mission and work to create spaces that overcome barriers and open up a world of better possibilities.

An Investment in Our Future

The Meierhof building is full of opportunity. By enhancing the Meierhof's functionality and addressing key staff, Fellow, and guest priorities— enhanced rooms, additional accessibility infrastructure, a renewable energy system, and new room climatization (“air conditioning”) — these renovations and developments will enhance both the Fellow experience and guest satisfaction and, as a result, Salzburg Global's capacity to realize its mission and its potential for growth.

Gifts toward the Meierhof Campaign are an investment that delivers returns for our mission. These renovations are projected to substantially increase our revenue — money that will directly feed and water our programs and work. Now, thanks to support from our Board of Directors, Fellows, and friends, we can build foundational support for Salzburg Global for years to come.

Activating Spaces

The project that inspired the Meierhof Campaign — the González Lounge and Meierhof Bar — was brought to life through the visionary support of former Vice Chairman Claudio González. His gift is a powerful example of what’s possible when philanthropy fuels purpose. With this support, these areas have been transformed into vibrant spaces for connection and conversation.

Similarly, the Mundheim Family Garden, made possible by the Mundheim Family, carries this same vision forward. This revitalized outdoor space brings to life our long-held vision of a Meierhof garden, one that captures the inspiration, charm, and timeless elegance of its neighbor, the Mansbach Garden Parterre. More than just a beautiful landscape, it serves as a place of reflection and connection — where Fellows and guests can continue their conversations, exchange ideas, or simply enjoy the natural beauty of Schloss Leopoldskron.

"The Meierhof architecture has a majestic modesty with a note of Mozart simplicity and humility. In earlier centuries, the Meierhof was a work horse with stables. Going forward, it can be a show horse for Fellows, staff, and guests."
Henry Myerberg, Salzburg Global Board Director and Founder of HMA2 Architects
