Believing in the Power and Possibility of Conversation
Creating Space for Change
The starting point for tackling any difficult issue is meaningful conversation.
We bring leaders together to grapple with important topics in ways that open things up, instead of shutting them down. Sessions at Salzburg Global create space for subtlety and invite exploration.
We get excited about the gray areas and the blurred lines between fixed ideas - the fertile ground where new possibilities grow.
It all comes down to asking questions without knowing the answers - seeking better options, instead of settling for packaged solutions.
What Do We Mean by "Change the Conversation?"
We live in an age of polarized voices and reinforced views. Where opinions are strongly held, and alternatives quickly dismissed. Where perspectives become fixed, and possibilities narrow.
And yet, we also live in an age of pressing global issues. Issues that are complex, interconnected, and intractable. Issues that won’t be solved by siloed thinking and unilateral action.
We want to change the conversation on these issues.
To break down the barriers that keep us in our siloes. To gather open-minded leaders for moments of breakthrough. To challenge deeply held assumptions and explore better possibilities.
Because we know that big challenges require open minds. The greater the complexity, the greater the need for collaboration. That lasting change always starts with meaningful dialogue.
In short, we believe in the power and possibility of conversation.
We believe in approaching issues with an open mind. In seeking out divergent voices with differing views. In challenging existing assumptions and ingrained perspectives.
Through our sessions – as well as our special events and our content – we are extending an invitation to leaders of every kind:

Conversation Changers
In September 2024, Salzburg Global proudly launched "Conversation Changers," a new podcast series offering listeners worldwide the chance to experience the spirit of dialogue, openness, and innovation that has defined Salzburg Global since its founding in 1947.
Hosted by journalist and Salzburg Global Fellow Eric Olander, the series brings together thought leaders, artists, policymakers, and change-makers from around the globe to explore fresh perspectives on some of today’s most pressing issues.
Each episode invites listeners to “slow down,” step beyond soundbites, and engage in thoughtful, intergenerational, and international conversations.
