Reinhardt Celebration (Fest für Reinhardt)
Max Reinhardt's 150th birthday was marked on September 9, 2023, at Schloss Leopoldskron with the Reinhardt Celebration (Fest für Reinhardt), a theatrical tribute directed by Michael Sturminger that used the palace itself as its stage.
The theatrical evening allowed guests to explore the palace as play and opera vignettes were performed in the rooms Reinhardt once inhabited, including scenes from Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night" and works by Strauss, Molière, and Mozart. During the gala dinner, actor Michael Maertens recited Reinhardt's famous "Speech About the Actor," Maertens performed scenes with actress Valery Tscheplanowa from “Everyman,” and opera soprano Camilla Nylund performed musical selections.
The 2023 celebration marked the beginning of an annual tradition at Schloss Leopoldskron to honor Max Reinhardt's artistic legacy with diverse performances, workshops, and cultural activities.
