LGBTIQ and Faith: Advancing Religious Inclusion in Asia
Through this webinar, we sought to answer questions and we discussed how to create meaningful dialogue between faith and rights leaders, as well as the broader community, to develop innovative approaches toward the acknowledgment and acceptance of LGBTIQ+ individuals in faith communities. We explored how our podcasts also play a role in the continuation of our Forum. ILGA ASIA and Salzburg Global LGBT* Forum have together explored and strengthened inclusive approaches in faith and LGBTIQ communities since 2020 including organizing a series of blog posts by faith leaders, scholars, and activists and producing an accompanying podcast.
This webinar was designed as a 1 hour 30 minutes moderated panel discussion with Q&A, exploring two themes: Theme 1: Challenges to the inclusion of LGBTIQ in faith communities Theme 2: Progress: New developments and best practices Our speakers included: - Dr Brenda Alegre, ILGA Asia - Maniza Khalid, Queer Muslim Project - Amar Alifkar, Global Interfaith Network - Gurchaten Sandhu, ILGA World - Madian Al Jazerah, Books"cafe The discussion was moderated by Ajita Banerjie.
