Shameer is the founder-convenor of the Javed Abidi Foundation (JAF), leading initiatives challenging societal perceptions of disability. Shameer is a diversity, equity, and inclusion activist who advocates for the rights of persons with disabilities and other marginalized communities. He primarily does this by utilizing the power of the Right to Information Act (India) of 2005 as a tool for evidence-based advocacy. Shameer envisions a world where empowerment replaces charity. Further, he serves as the secretary general of the Religions for Peace (RfP) Asia Pacific Interfaith Youth Network (APIYN), where he implements youth programs that foster interfaith collaboration for peace and harmony among communities. Shameer is interested in developing tools, systems, and approaches based on his experiences, which people can use to access, demand, and advocate for their rights. He is currently pursuing a Data Science & Programming degree.
