At the 2026 Salzburg Global Weekend in June, we were honored to name former Board Chairman Victoria Mars as the latest recipient of the Salzburg Cup.

Throughout Salzburg Global's history, a remarkable community of supporters have dedicated themselves to serving our mission, investing in our home at Schloss Leopoldskron, and ensuring that leaders from all walks of life can join and enrich Salzburg Global’s community.

These individuals have taken personal responsibility to steward Salzburg Global and, in doing so, have left a lasting legacy on our organization. As a demonstration of our gratitude for their distinguished service, we have inscribed the names of these individuals on the Salzburg Cup.

Victoria’s Salzburg Global Legacy

Victoria Mars first became involved with Salzburg Global in 2014, through a personal connection to the family of Herb Gleason, our "Fourth Founder" and fellow Salzburg Cup recipient.

She joined our Board of Directors in 2015 and went on to serve three terms as a Board Director, including seven years as Chairman. Throughout that time, she has been one of our greatest champions.

Victoria’s steadfast leadership, generosity, and belief in the power of dialogue guided Salzburg Global through a transformative period in its history, strengthening the institution and positioning it for the future.

A fourth-generation member of the Mars family and former Chairman of the Board of Mars, Incorporated, Victoria has dedicated her career to bringing people together, fostering understanding, and enabling people to listen, learn, and solve problems together. As Mars’ first Ombudsman, she personified principled leadership, collaboration, and the power of human connection.

Her service to Salzburg Global encompassed a period of extraordinary growth and change, including renewed outreach to the Austrian community, an executive leadership transition, the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the successful completion of the Inspiring Leadership Campaign – a campaign that raised more than $18 million in support of our people, programs, and place.

Victoria’s vision for Salzburg Global has always extended beyond the present moment. In 2023, she endowed the launch of the "Pathways to Peace" initiative, a groundbreaking program series dedicated to fostering dialogue and collaboration addressing urgent geopolitical challenges that threaten political, economic, and social stability globally. Programs run under this initiative have included:

We express our deep gratitude to Victoria for the vision, leadership, and generosity she has shared so graciously with our Fellows, staff, Board, and friends over many years of service.
