Education

Education Transformation and Gender: Better Outcomes for Everyone

Education systems, like the societies in which they evolved, have been built primarily around the needs and skills of able-bodied, heterosexual, cisgender boys and men. Too often still, they perpetuate inequalities rather than helping to address them. The reasons for that are systemic and go beyond the individual or the community.

Following the UN Transforming Education Summit in September 2022 many education systems are about to embark on a process of profound transformation. This creates an opportunity to address long standing gender-related inequalities in systems and the chance for education to model the kind of society in which everyone can thrive.
