Zoreen Echavez Agustin is a Program Manager at Save the Children Philippines, where she leads a multi-year, multi-sectoral project in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). Her work is driven by a deep commitment to advancing child rights, informed by her personal experiences with natural disasters and armed conflict and their impact on vulnerable groups. Her expertise includes education in emergencies, mental health, disaster risk reduction management (DRRM), and peacebuilding. Prior to her current role, Zoreen collaborated with the Ministry of Basic Education in BARMM to develop policies promoting quality and conflict-sensitive education for Bangsamoro children. This work included formulating DRRM policies in education, contextualized professional development programs for teachers, and advocating for the Safe School Declaration, which is set to be piloted in the region. In 2022, Zoreen pursued dual master's degrees in international Peace Studies and Transdisciplinary Social Development, further deepening her knowledge and expertise in her field.
