Zahara Nampewo is a Professor of Law at the School of Law Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda, where she is also the Deputy Dean. She is a Ugandan lawyer, academic and human rights practitioner with over 20 years of experience in the private, public and non-profit sectors. Her areas of interest and expertise include human rights, gender and health justice. An experienced trainer, facilitator and researcher, she has worked at national, regional and international level with organisations like UN Women, UNAFRI, UNODC, CDC, Global Fund, FIAN International, USAID, Open Society Foundation (OSF), and Uganda Human Rights Commission. She has hands-on experience in academic and non-academic program implementation, advocacy, collaborative networking and research. Zahara was winner of the 2019 5th Women in Law Award for “Female Lawyer Academic”, awarded by the Uganda Law Society on 7th March 2019.
