Yosuke Nagai

Yosuke is the Founder and Executive Director of Accept International, established in 2011, and has since dedicated himself to implementing deradicalization, reintegration, and rehabilitation programs for defectors, prisoners, and detainees of non-state armed groups, particularly violent extremist groups, in Somalia, Yemen, Kenya, Indonesia, and Colombia, while also launching emergency humanitarian assistance programs to support victims and internally displaced persons in these regions, with such efforts expanding to Palestine since 2024. He has also actively fostered dialogue and reconciliation by engaging youth and female leaders in society as well as even disengaged combatants in some countries, leading to a new peace process. In 2023, he launched the Global Taskforce for Youth Combatants (GTY), an initiative comprising peacebuilders with experiences in non-state armed groups, aimed at addressing the needs of youth associated with these groups (YANSAG) and helping them realize their potential as agents of peace. Yosuke holds a PhD in Social Science from Waseda University and a Master's degree in Conflict Studies from the London School of Economics and Political Science, has served as a visiting fellow at the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights, currently serves as a visiting fellow at the University of Oxford, and is a member of a Youth Advisory Board, an Expert Group Meeting, and a Technical Working Group within various UN agencies. Yosuke is a Salzburg Global Fellow.
