Tong-Q Lee is a Director of the Board at Climate Change Center. He has served as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to the Republic of Latvia from January 2023 to December 2024. For over 28 years, he has worked in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, specifically focused on climate change, energy, environment, and science issues. Tong-Q was the Head of Climate Change and Sustainable Development Team of the Korean Permanent Mission to the United Nations, and responsible for SDGs and the Rio+20 Negotiations. He served as the Deputy Director-General of the Climate Change, Energy, Environment and Scientific Affairs Bureau in 2018 and has worked in a wide spectrum of climate change and energy transition issues, including climate change negotiations. Tong-Q also actively engaged in the national process to tackle the issue of transboundary air pollution and micro dust, including PM 2.5, as Director-General of the International Cooperation and Scientific Affairs Bureau, National Council on Climate and Air Quality, Korea. Amb. Lee was a leader in making the UN International Day of Clean Air and blue skies to tackle air pollution and facilitate energy transition. Tong-Q was Director-General, Climate Change, Energy, Environmental and Scientific Affairs Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Republic of Korea from 2020 to 2022.
