Surya Karki is the country director and co-founder of the United World Schools (UWS) Nepal; and co-founder and business development director for Bloom Nepal Schools. Through UWS Nepal's establishment in 2015, the organization has gone on from a simple idea to 70 schools and 9000 children working hard to make education their ticket to a bright and peaceful future. Before UWS Nepal, Surya co-founded Bloom Nepal Schools - the only network of schools that provides interest-based education. He has advised the Government of Nepal as the youngest member of the Committee for Education Reform of State 1. He is also a member of the Education Council of the Confederation of Nepalese Industries. In 2014, Surya got the Prince of Wales and UNILEVER Sustainable Living Young Entrepreneurs Award; in 2016, he was recognized as one of 30 under 30 International Literacy Association leaders; and in 2017, he was listed in the Forbes 30 under 30 Asia, and was selected as one of 115 Facebook Community Leaders while representing his country and organization as a WISE Young Leader in 2020.
