Stathis N. Kalyvas is the Gladstone Professor of Government at the University of Oxford and a fellow of All Souls College, where he directs the T. E. Lawrence Program on Conflict and Violence. Previously, he was the Arnold Wolfers Professor of Political Science at Yale University, where he founded the Program on Order, Conflict, and Violence. A renowned scholar of political violence, civil war, and conflict, Stathis is the author of The Logic of Violence in Civil War and The Rise of Christian Democracy in Europe, among other works. His research has been recognized with numerous awards and supported by institutions including the Guggenheim Foundation and the U.S. Institute of Peace. He is a fellow of both the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the British Academy.
