Sohee Yang is the co-founder and CEO of VALID, a pro-democracy think tank dedicated to strengthening youth and women’s political representation and advancing democratic innovation, and the founder of YOUNAN Movement, a nonprofit that empowers young citizens through new forms of civic education and community engagement. A political activist and social entrepreneur from the Republic of Korea, she works at the intersection of technology, A.I., and democracy. Building on her political experience as a parliamentary aide, party spokesperson, and campaign strategist in both local and presidential elections, her work has expanded from domestic politics to the global stage. Sohee has represented Korea or spoken at major international forums such as the United Nations, APEC, the Open Government Partnership Global Summit, the World Forum for Democracy, and the Youth Democracy Network. In recognition of her leadership and impact, she was selected as the 2025 Vital Voices Global Fellow for the Public Leadership Pillar, Global Fellows in Courage, and was named a finalist for the 2025 Kofi Annan NextGen Democracy Prize. Sohee holds a B.A. in global Korean studies with honors from Sogang University, in Seoul, and was selected as the 2019 Commencement Speaker at her university.
