Sintija Bernava is the founder and chairwoman of the board of a non-governmental organization called "Donum Animus" as well as an educator and mentor. She has published numerous publications addressing the importance of social inclusion, mental health, sustainable development, and leadership. For more than 12 years she managed "Creative Workshops" promoting children's and young people's and their family members' mental health and wellbeing during the recovery process at the Children's Central University Hospital of Latvia. Sintija has organized numerous international art exhibitions promoting art as a tool towards people from vulnerable backgrounds empowerment. Social initiative ''Stronger Together'' promoting social inclusion and cross sector cooperation, empowerment of the most vulnerable was selected as GOOD Practice in the European Union by Europe Goes Local in 2024. ''Donum Animus'' is the only non governmental entity from Latvia holding Special Consultative Status of the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations. For her high performance and professional work, Sintija was awarded with a Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister of the Republic of Latvia. Sintija is a Fellow of Salzburg Global Seminar.
