Sinja Buri leads the Climate Risk Finance Solutions team at the Munich Climate Insurance Initiative (MCII), a non-profit think tank hosted at the United Nations University Institute for Environment and Human Security. She is working on facilitating the introduction of innovative climate disaster risk financing and insurance (CDRFI) solutions for the most vulnerable, as well as building the evidence base and closing existing knowledge gaps for implementing inclusive CDRFI solutions. Previously, she worked with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) in Senegal, leading market and survey research work for IFC’s Financial Institutions Group covering Africa and the Middle East. Sinja is a trained economist with over 12 years of working experience and extensive expertise in financial inclusion, digital financial services, results measurement and evaluation, applied research, and private sector development – covering projects in the Philippines, Africa, the Middle East, the Pacific, and the Caribbean.
