Simon Allan is Head of Portfolio Management at COVAX (hosted at Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance). During the recent pandemic, he led COVAX's work to sign vaccine deals with manufacturers, manage the supply of donated vaccines, and refine COVAX's portfolio strategy in response to rapidly changing circumstances. Based on this portfolio, COVAX delivered almost 2 billion vaccines to 146 countries in what was the largest vaccine rollout in history. Simon has spent the last decade working in global health trying to improve access to health products in lower-income countries - working at MedAccess, MSF Access Campaign, and Dalberg Advisors where we worked with clients such as BMGF, WHO, and pharmaceutical companies. As the COVAX initiative sunsets, he is transitioning to lead Gavi's engagements on other diseases with epidemic / pandemic potential. Simon holds degrees in Public Health from LSHTM, UK, and Economics from the University of Cambridge, UK.
