Shruti Viswanathan

Shruthi Viswanathan is an independent consultant based in Chennai. She works at the intersection of technology, public programs, and accountability, with a deep commitment to advancing justice in the use of technology for development and humanitarian action. Shruti is particularly interested in ensuring that technology remains responsible to the communities it is meant to serve. As an independent consultant, her recent work has included using AI to track misinformation in Sudan and developing a framework for the responsible use of AI in humanitarian organizations. Shruti has more than 15 years of experience working with global, national, and local actors to design responsive social programs and strengthen systems change. Her work has supported multi-country initiatives for organizations including USAID, FCDO, GIZ, BMGF, GSMA, and the UN, with a focus on digital social protection, responsible AI, and inclusive digital design. Shruthi holds an M.A. in law and diplomacy from The Fletcher School, Tufts University, US, and a B.A. LL.B. (Hons) from the National Law School of India University, in Bangalore.
