Shirley is the Director of the China-Africa Initiative at the London School of Economics, where her work focuses on the geoeconomic and geopolitical dimensions of China's engagement with Africa. Her research and analysis explore how China's evolving global strategy intersects with development, investment, and political dynamics across the African continent, contributing to a deeper understanding of shifting global power structures. Shirley is a Salzburg Global Fellow.
