Seun Bakare is an international criminal law and human rights practitioner. He currently works across two broad areas of public international law - climate justice and LGBT+ rights. He is Executive Director at Climate Peace Alliance, a UK based international Charity that works at the intersection of climate justice and violent conflicts. He is also the Senior Associate for East and West Africa at the Human Dignity Trust, an international charity that uses strategic litigation to defend the rights of LGBT people. Before his time at both CPA and the Trust, Seun was Chief Executive at the Leicester LGBT Centre. At Amnesty International in Nigeria, he was Director of programmes in charge of research, campaign, and advocacy. He has previously worked as staff and practised as a lawyer, before many international and regional tribunals, including the African Commission on Human and Peoples' Rights, the ECOWAS Court of Justice and the International Criminal Court. He holds a Bachelor of Laws from Nigeria; a Master of Laws in international human rights law from the Centre for Human Rights, University of Pretoria, and has completed a Ph.D. in international criminal law from the Leiden University. With more than 27 sole and jointly published peer-reviewed articles, chapters in books and a book to his credit, Seun focuses on research and publication in diverse areas of law.
