Ph.D. Candidate, University of Cambridge, United Kingdom

Ruby Haji Naif is a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Cambridge, specializing in migration, citizenship, and public visibility in Germany and Europe. Her research examines how citizenship discourses, governance structures, and digital systems shape access to rights, belonging, and democratic participation, particularly for migrant and marginalized communities. As someone with a migrant background, Ruby brings a perspective that connects lived experience with institutional analysis. Through qualitative research and fieldwork in Berlin, she explores how public institutions, grassroots cultural initiatives, digital infrastructures, and social narratives influence inclusion, trust, and political agency. Alongside her academic work, Ruby has worked with the Solferino Academy, the innovation and foresight think tank of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), as well as supported international innovation and leadership initiatives, facilitated cross-sector workshops, and contributed to strategic research across in the humanitarian sector.
