Rosa Galvez

Rosa Galvez is an independent senator for Québec (Bedford) in the Senate of Canada in Ottawa. She is a retired Canadian civil and environmental engineer and former professor, recognized for her expertise in pollution control, water and soil decontamination, and evidence-based policy. She has advised private, community, governmental, and international organizations on environmental challenges in countries across Europe, Asia, and Latin America. In the Senate, Rosa has advanced legislation on climate action, environmental protection, public health, and transparent governance. She sponsored the Canadian Net-Zero Emissions Accountability Act and introduced the Climate-Aligned Finance Act. Rosa is a member of the Standing Senate Committee on Energy, the Environment and Natural Resources and the Standing Senate Committee on National Finance. She is president of ParlAmericas' Parliamentary Network on Climate Change and Sustainability, is a member of Parliamentarians for a Fossil-Free Future and has represented Canada at United Nations climate conferences.
