Rosa Brooks is the Scott K. Ginsburg Professor of Law and Policy at Georgetown Law. She has previously served as Counselor to the Undersecretary of Defense for Policy and as a senior advisor at the State. Brooks' articles and essays have appeared in publications such as the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Atlantic and the Wall Street Journal, and she spent four years as a weekly opinion columnist for the Los Angeles Times and another four as a columnist for Foreign Policy. Her 2016 book, How Everything Became War and the Military Became Everything, was a New York Times Notable Book of 2016; it was named one of the five best books of the year by the Council on Foreign Relations. Her most recent book, Tangled Up in Blue: Policing the American City (2021) was named one of the best non-fiction books of the year by the Washington Post. She is a graduate of Harvard College, Oxford and Yale Law School.
