Board Member and Acting Honorary Director, Bangalore International Centre (BIC), India

Ravichandar Venkataraman is a board member and acting honorary director of Bangalore International Centre (BIC), a platform for informed conversations, arts and culture, which organizes approximately 40 free-to-attend events per month and is sustainable in its operations. He also manages Sabha, a 160-year-old, recently restored premises by his family trust for arts and crafts. Ravichandar catalyzed BIC and achieved the shift to the new building (50,000 sq feet) and set its ethos through involvement from 2010-24. To improve the ‘soft’ infrastructure of Bangalore, he has enabled 14 editions of the Bangalore Literature Festival, India’s largest community funded literary event. He is the chief facilitator of the annual BLR Hubba, a festival of festivals. This January it held 350+ free-to-attend events across 30+ locations. Since 2000, Ravichandar has been involved in public causes on a pro bono basis and has raised over 10 million euros sans government funding. He is currently involved in setting up three more public institutions.
