Rafael Freyre-Martinez is a senior advisor to the Mexican Ministry of Education and to the National Commission for Continuous Improvement of Education. He also represents the NGO:, Great Place to Study for Mexico and Latin America. He worked for the Ministry of Education for more than 20 years as general director for planning and budgeting. His areas of interest include education policy for compulsory education, education planning and evaluation, and early childhood education. His projects include research on education innovation, lifelong learning, equity and best practices in education for Mexico and Latin America. He has been a lecturer at Columbia University and at Autonomous Technological Institute of Mexico for 23 years. He received an M.B.A. and M.P.A. from Columbia University in the City of New York and a PhD. in Economics from the University of Essex and LSE, UK.
