Rachel Risako Asano is a bachelor's student enrolled at Central European University in Vienna, Austria, where she is pursuing an interdisciplinary B.A. in Culture, Politics, and Society. She is majoring in political, legal, and governmental studies, exhibiting a keen interest in areas such as migration policy, minority rights, and their intersection with ethnonationalism. Rachel recently served as an international researcher at CALL4, a Japanese NGO dedicated to public interest litigation. Her role involved investigating relevant policy examples in Europe to strengthen a case lowering the age of candidacy in Japan, with the aim of fostering a more inclusive and equitable democratic landscape. Prior to her move to Vienna, Rachel demonstrated her leadership skills through engagement in student activism in Japan. Notably, she spearheaded initiatives promoting gender equality, assuming responsibilities that included planning and hosting webinars, as well as serving as editor for a self-published magazine.
