Rabhi Abdessalem
Senior Program Coordinator, Institute for Global Environmental Strategies, Japan
Abdessalem Rabhi is a Program Manager at the A6 Implementation Partnership Center, where he promotes the global implementation of Article 6 of the Paris Agreement on climate change. He has been with the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) in Japan since 2002, working on sustainability, resilience, and climate change mitigation and adaptation. His focus includes promoting corporate environmental management, green technology transfer, best practices, community engagement, stakeholder involvement, capacity enhancement, and sustainable finance. Abdessalem's work has covered countries across Asia, including Bangladesh, China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam, as well as Poland and Hungary in Europe, and several Small Island Developing States (SIDS). Since 2020, his area of coverage has expanded to the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. He holds a Master's and Ph.D. in Comprehensive Economic Policies from Kobe University, Japan. Abdessalem is also certified in ESG Investing from the CFA Institute (U.K.) and holds advanced certificates in Islamic Finance from Ethica (USA), AIMS (U.K.), and BIBF (Bahrain). Since 2016, he has represented RINGO (Research-oriented and Independent Non-Governmental Organizations) on the Technology Executive Committee (TEC) Support Taskforce and has been a member of ICMA's Working Group on Sustainability-Linked Bonds (SLB) since 2020. Abdessalem is a Fellow of Salzburg Global.
