Niza Banda is a seasoned insurance professional with over a decade of experience in short-term and long-term insurance. She leads ZEP-RE’s ‘Grain for Premium’ initiative in Zambia, an innovative model enabling farmers to access climate risk insurance without prohibitive cash payments. Her work focuses on designing inclusive, context-specific agricultural insurance solutions that protect livelihoods, enhance resilience, and support food security aligning closely with this program’s theme of fostering equity in health and wealth. With a background in Applied Economic Analysis and Actuarial Science, Niza brings deep expertise in risk assessment and mitigation. She actively engages governments, DFIs, insurers, and community organizations to co-create solutions that empower vulnerable households and strengthen local economies in the face of climate change.
