Moredreck Chibi
WHO Public Health Innovation Lead, WHO Regional Office for Europe, Denmark
Dr. Moredreck Chibi is a public health professional currently leading Public Health Innovation at the WHO Regional Office for Europe. In his current role, he is spearheading the development of WHO/Europe's strategy for harnessing innovation in the region and is an integral part of the team developing the European Programme of Work 2.0, where innovation is expected to constitute 30% of the programme delivery.
Prior to his current position, Dr. Chibi served as the Regional Adviser for Science and Innovation at the WHO Regional Office for Africa in Brazzaville, Republic of Congo. During his tenure, he achieved several notable accomplishments, including the development of the first Strategy for Scaling Up Health Innovations, which was unanimously approved by 47 Member States. He also chaired an African UN agency coalition promoting innovation for Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) progress and led crucial regional innovation initiatives during the COVID-19 pandemic, significantly contributing to the response.
Dr. Chibi's extensive career encompasses over 20 years of experience in Research and Development, Innovation Management, and Public Health. His professional journey includes working at WHO Headquarters in Geneva as a Technical Officer, where he was part of the team coordinating the implementation of the Global Strategy and Plan of Action on Public Health, Innovation, and Intellectual Property. Dr. Chibi holds a Global master's in public health from Imperial College London, a PhD in Medical Biosciences from Cape Town, South Africa, and a Swiss Executive MBA in Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship.
