Dr. Monica Malta is an assistant professor at York University’s School of Global Health in Toronto, Canada. With over 15 years of experience in global health research, her work examines how social and structural inequities shape health outcomes, particularly among 2SLGBTQ+ communities, women, and other marginalized populations. She leads community-based projects in Brazil, Kenya, and Vietnam addressing gender-based violence and mental health through innovative eHealth and mHealth interventions. Dr. Malta has collaborated with organizations including WHO, UNAIDS, and the Pan American Health Organization, and serves on the boards of 500 Women Scientists and Women in Global Health. A TED speaker and award-winning researcher, she was recognized with the 2024 Nature Award for Inclusive Health Research for her commitment to equity-driven global health innovation. Her work bridges science, advocacy, and lived experience to promote health and human rights worldwide.
