Monica Lopez

One of 100 Brilliant Women in AI Ethics, Dr. Lopez is a cognitive scientist, executive and entrepreneur. She is the Co-Founder & CEO of Cognitive Insights for Artificial Intelligence and La Petite Noiseuse Productions, and currently serves as Privacy Officer at VHC Health, where she leads privacy, compliance and AI governance, aligning oversight frameworks with quality care. A sought-after global speaker, she has presented at the United Nations' ITU AI for Good Global Summit, World Economic Forum, Sundance Film Festival, National Academy of Sciences, among others. Her peer-reviewed research appears in top journals in medical informatics, AI law, human-computer interaction and technology policy. Dr. Lopez is a Salzburg Global Fellow, AI Expert for the Global Partnership on AI, and former Senior Executive Fellow of The Digital Economist. A teaching professor for 16 years at Johns Hopkins University, she pioneered courses on human-centered AI, ethics, governance, business and geopolitics.
