Monde is a seasoned expert in U.S.-Africa relations with over 25 years of senior-level experience engaging African governments, international partners, civil society, and the private sector. She most recently served as Assistant Administrator for Africa at USAID (2022-2025), overseeing development efforts across 47 African countries, managing 3,000 staff and a multi-billion-dollar budget. Prior to that, she was Director of the Africa Program at the Wilson Center (2014-2022), and previously held leadership roles at the Africa Center for Strategic Studies and the National Summit on Africa. Monde holds a PhD in International Relations and a BA in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from the University of Oxford, and a BA in Public Administration and Economics from the University of Zambia. She is a Rhodes and Wingate Scholar.
