Mochamad Mustafa is the program director for democracy and governance at The Asia Foundation, Indonesia. He has more than 15 years of experience in governance and democracy, focusing on gender equality and women's empowerment, local governance, socio-political issues, regulatory reform, counter-violence extremism, freedom of religion and beliefs, and tolerance promotion. In his current position, he leads the implementation of various democracy promotion, human rights, and peacebuilding programs under his unit portfolios. In addition, he has a strong interest in Islam, democracy and society, and religious tolerance. Mochamad holds a Ph.D. in Development Studies focusing on the political economy of decentralization and governance from the University of Adelaide, Australia.
