Mirza Asmer Beg is a professor of the department of political science at A.M.U., Aligarh. He specializes in strategic studies and American studies. His doctoral work was awarded the 'best dissertation prize' by the American Studies Research Centre, Hyderabad, India for the year 1996. He has a keen interest in electoral studies. His work has been published in journals like The Round Table: The Commonwealth Journal of International Affairs, Economic and Political Weekly, Seminar, Humanities and Social Science Review, Studies in Indian Politics, South Asian Studies, Studies in Islam, Foreign Affairs Reports and Indian Journal of Politics etc. He has written one book and edited four volumes. He was a visiting scholar in a Fulbright programme at Southern Illinois University in 1999. Mizra Asmer is on the editorial board of several international journals and has been a referee to quite a few journals. He is a Fellow of Salzburg Global Seminar.
