Marty Gecek is the chair of the American Studies Advisory Committee, Salzburg Global. It proposes topics for American Studies programs to Salzburg Global staff, as well as providing suggestions for appropriate speakers and participants, and disseminating information about programs to numerous contacts around the world. She joined Salzburg Global in 1966 and has held a number of positions at the institution, including Associate Director of Administration and Personnel, and Associate Director of the American Studies Center. For the last 18 years she was chair of the Salzburg Seminar American Studies Association and Director of American Studies symposia at Salzburg Global Seminar. She officially retired in 2019 after 53 years at Salzburg Global. Marty holds a B.A. in sociology from Hollins University in Virginia, USA. She is a Fellow of Salzburg Global and serves on the American Studies Program Advisory Committee.
