Mariko Lawson currently serves as manager of public policy at Amazon, where she leads AI, data, and content policy for Amazon Australia and New Zealand. Mariko brings a strategic, cross-sector perspective to complex policy matters, with deep experience developing external partnerships, leading cross-disciplinary teams, and delivering impactful work programs. She is an experienced public policy professional who has worked across the public and private sectors in Australia and internationally. Mariko served in the Australian foreign service, including as a diplomat at the Australian Embassy in Beijing, where she managed complex bilateral engagement in relation to China's economic and regulatory environment. She has also worked in management consulting at KPMG, leading multi-disciplinary teams on public sector projects, and practiced commercial law in dispute resolution and intellectual property at a top-tier law firm in Sydney. Mariko holds an LL.B. and a B.A. in political science (honors) from the University of New South Wales, in Sydney.
