Mariia Mytrofanova was born in 1999 in Odesa, Ukraine and is currently located in Berlin, Germany. She graduated from the department of fine arts of the Grekov Odesa Art School (2014 - 2018) as well as from the faculty of art and media of Pedagogical University of Cracow (Uniwersytet Pedagogiczny im. Komisji Edukacji Narodowej w Krakowie, 2018 - 2022). Mariia collaborated with KREaktywna in Cracow (Poland), Bunkier Sztuki in Cracow (Poland), Ufo art gallery in Cracow (Poland), and All Together Gallery in Venice (Italy). In the center of Mariia's practice stands the fragility of human existence against political, economic and climate changes. She researches human connections within families stories and archives. The main principle of Mariia's practice is focusing on "her-story" and putting women's voices first, making them be heard and recognized, opposing to the traditional art-historian approach.
