Margareth Suhartin Aritonang has researched, reported, and conducted investigations on environmental issues, human rights, politics, and security affairs for over 15 years. She has reported and conducted investigations for national and international media on prolonged human rights violations, the death penalty, sectarian conflicts, Indonesia?s national politics, and the connections between corruption, influence trading, environmental harm, and deprivation of the rights of Indigenous and marginalized communities. She received a fellowship from the Pulitzer Center?s Rainforest Investigations Network in 2024 to investigate President Prabowo Subianto?s business interests, the associated influence trading, and their influence on his policies as president of Indonesia. In 2023, the International Women?s Media Foundation selected her as a runner-up for the Elizabeth Neuffer Fellowship.She holds an MSc from the London School of Economics and Political Science, funded by the Chevening Scholarship.
