Manuela Engelbert is a public health assistant strategist working in the field of smoking cessation at Islington Council. Her work area focuses on facilitating and helping to reduce the burden of smoking on the Islington population through working with partners and smoking service providers proactively. Additionally, she is working on facilitating a new tobacco alliance at her council which will support work around tobacco control in the area. She also has experience in commissioning research and/or focus groups at a local authority level. Manuela graduated with a bachelor's degree in biomedical science from the University of Sheffield before completing a master of public health (MPH) at the same institution. Her MPH thesis focused on arsenic poisoning from rice and the cooking methods which can be used to reduce the negative impact on human health. Her research interests lie in global health policy and health systems, nutrition, health literacy and the built environment.
