Lisa Hanna

Deputy Director, Scotland's National Centre for Languages, United Kingdom

Lisa Hanna joined Scotland's National Centre for Languages (SCILT) in November 2019 as a Professional Development Officer, and a year later was appointed Deputy Director. In her current role, Lisa works with the SCILT and CISS teams to deliver professional learning for educators, and to create opportunities where learners of all ages can engage with language learning and experience an internationalized curriculum. She is a passionate advocate for language learning and international education for everyone. She relishes the opportunity to work with schools and other partner organizations to encourage and support language learning across Scotland. As a principal teacher of Spanish and French, she has developed extensive knowledge of all levels of the Scottish secondary curriculum. She has developed training and resources to support both primary and secondary language learning, and has worked at the local and national level in Scottish education to support the development of language learning and intercultural competences.
