Lisa Borden is a US civil and human rights attorney with more than 35 years' experience. In addition to her law degree, Lisa has an LLM in International Human Rights Law. She currently serves as Deputy Federal Policy director at the Southern Poverty Law Center. She also leads SPLC's international advocacy at the United Nations and other international organizations, and plays a leading role in the work of a large coalition of US civil society organizations seeking implementation of international human rights standards in US domestic law and policy. Before joining SPLC, Lisa was a trial lawyer handling death penalty, prison conditions and other civil rights cases, and served as the pro bono partner at a large US law firm.
