Laís Fleury has twenty years of experience as a social entrepreneur and she became a fellow of Ashoka Social Entrepreneurs in 2013. She co-founded the NGO Associação Vaga Lume, which works to encourage reading in rural communities in the Amazon region. She also worked as an outdoor educator for NOLS and Outward Bound Brazil. She has coordinated the Instituto Alana's Child and Nature program for 6 years. She is currently the director of institutional relations at the Alana Foundation, which has conceived and sponsored the X Prize Rainforest | Alana, a five-year competition to enhance our understanding of the rainforest ecosystem. She has a postgraduate degree on the theme: "The time and the voice of children, Anthropological and Poetic Listening to Childhood and is taking the pos graduation on popular knowledge for art and education in the experience of the Carroça dos Mamulengos."
