Kwame Akyeampong

Kwame Akyeampong is a Professor of International Education and Development at the Open University, UK with an academic career spanning over 30 years. He started his career at the University of Cape Coast in 1989. In 2004 he moved to the University of Sussex in 2020 joined the Open University, UK where he founded the Centre of the Study of Global Development (CSGD). He was appointed a visiting Professor at the Centre for the Study of International Co-operation in Education (CICE) at Hiroshima University, Japan in 2001 and a Senior Fulbright Research Scholar at Georgia State University, Atlanta, USA in 2002. From 2010 to 2013, UNESCO appointed him as a Senior Policy Analyst for the Global Education Monitoring Report in Paris. Currently, he co-chairs the Global Education Evidence Advisory Panel (GEEAP), and serves on the Advisory Committee of the Yidan Prize Foundation and a Fellow of the Robert Bosch Academy in Berlin, Germany.
