Krmanj Othman is a senior legal advisor for international law at the Ministry of Justice in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI) and Vice President of the International Human Rights Centre (IGFM) in Frankfurt. From 2014 to 2021, he served as a senior legal advisor at the Independent Commission for Human Rights in KRI. Since 2015, Krmanj has been a member of the KRG High Committee for ISIS Crimes Documentation and Prosecutions. An activist and researcher specializing in international crimes and genocide, he has authored a booklet on holding ISIS accountable (2022) and another on judicial independence (2005), along with numerous legal research articles in reputable journals and around 50 opinion pieces in local newspapers and magazines. He was a lobbyist for the United Network of Youth Peace Builders to the UN headquarters during discussions on Security Council Resolution 2250 (2012-2013). Krmanj has lectured in international humanitarian law at Salahaddin University and LFU University in Erbil and is a member of the editorial board of the International Journal for Education Law and Policy (IJELP) in Belgium. He holds an MA in Law from the University of Turin in Italy.
