Katya Puga is a political scientist and sociologist with over 15 years of experience advancing social justice in energy and environmental policy. Currently, Katya directs I+D+P, a research and participation initiative focused on just energy transition. She collaborates with organizations such as UNDP, IUCN, GIZ, and UNIDO on community ownership of renewable energy, transition finance, and post-fossil justice in oil, gas, and coal-dependent regions. She served as Deputy Minister for Environmental Planning and Policy in Mexico, where she led the country's national climate strategy. At the Ministry of Energy, she was Director General for Social Impact, where she designed and implemented Mexico's first regulatory framework for Social Impact Assessments and led the country's first Indigenous consultation processes for energy projects. Katya leads the seminar Contemporary Debates on Feminism and Just Energy Transition. She holds degrees from Tec de Monterrey and UNAM.
