Karely Hernandez is a senior communications officer at the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, where she leads communications for the Global Ideas for U.S. Solutions team and Health and Climate Solutions work. Karely comes to the Foundation from the Democratic National Committee, where she developed communications strategies in key states throughout the country. Prior to that, Karely served as communications manager for FWD.us, leading advocacy and narrative campaign strategies on immigration issues and policies. She also served as communications manager with the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, where she developed and executed communications strategies to support civil rights advocacy campaigns. Karely is also an experienced spokesperson for organizations, campaigns, civil rights advocates and elected officials. Karely specializes in capacity building across coalitions, and loves storytelling to personalize top policy priorities. Karely graduated as a 2021 fellow with the New Leaders Council Institute, a leading professional development program for rising change-making leaders across the country. Karely is a native Spanish language speaker, is conversationally fluent in Portuguese and holds a BA in global and international studies, with a regional emphasis on Latin America.
