Kamal Kandel works with Initiatives of Change in Nepal as a program manager for the trust-building program. He is involved with the International Research Group on Reintegration (IRGR), a specialized research unit focused on the complex challenges of ex-combatants' social, political, and economic reintegration after the war. As a research assistant, he has conducted different research projects on armed conflicts in Nepal with the University of Oslo. In addition, he has worked at the Secretariat for the Sri Lankan Ministry of Youth Affairs and Skill Development during the World Conference on Youth. Kamal holds a master of philosophy in Peace and Conflict Transformation from the Department of Center for Peace Studies at the Arctic University of Norway (UIT), a master's in international Relations from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka, and a master's degree in Conflict, Peace, and Development Studies from Tribhuvan University, Nepal, and the University of Ruhuna, Sri Lanka.
