Joab Okanda

Joab Okanda is Africa regional manager at the Global Gas and Oil Network (GGON), Nairobi, Kenya. His work focuses on leading regional strategies to support civil society efforts to end oil and gas expansion while advancing just, equitable, and people-centered energy transitions across the continent. Joab has extensive experience in strategy development, policy research, advocacy, and high-level engagement across Africa and globally, having led policy dialogues, campaigns, and strategic initiatives on climate justice, energy transitions, and development finance in collaboration with governments, civil society, and multilateral institutions to shape policy and advance equitable development pathways. In addition to his professional role, Joab serves as Co-Chair of the Board of Directors of Climate Action Network International (CANI).
